There is a song we sing in worship that includes the following lyric, “Lord make us instruments of your peace…”
This past Thursday night nine Christians assembled at the Anaheim meeting house to encourage each other with reports about the opportunities we had to be used by God as instruments of peace in the lives of people in the community the previous week.
Conversation included individual opportunities recognized but missed, individual opportunities taken and the results, personal Bible studies conducted, evangelistic plans for the next week and prayer about all of this.
Anaheim says meeting like this is something they now feel they need, to help keep them motivated evangelistically. I have come to call these sessions Evangelistic Fellowships. My hope for participants is that these fellowships will help train them to include conversation about evangelism in other fellowship formats as well.
Do your conversations with brethren encourage evangelistically? They could.
“24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” Heb 10:24-25 NASB
